Board Members

Wendy Bonello

Wendy is a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and Princeton University, with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Wendy won the Bill Bradley Young Citizen Award in High School and has enjoyed volunteering with many organizations. She participated in five mission trips after Hurricanes Katrina and Ike to help rebuild houses for the storm victims. Her 26-year career in branch banking has led her to her role as Market Manager with Two River Community Bank, currently managing two of their branches located in West Long Branch and Freehold. Wendy is proud to work for Two River Community Bank, as it is an organization which takes pride in giving back to the community. Wendy is a member of the Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Outreach Committee for St. George’s by the River and is on the Advisory Board for Kick Cancer Overboard.

Wendy has been a resident of Oceanport for the past 20 years and is the proud mother of two children.

Jennifer Chaladoff – Secretary

Jennifer received her undergraduate degree in Education and Arts Management from Sweet Briar College in Virginia.  She began her teaching career working with middle and high school students with learning disabilities at The Landmark School in Prides Crossing, MA.  She realized quickly that this was her passion and went on to receive her M.A. in Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.  Shortly after, she accepted the position of Director of Learning Support Services at The Hewitt School, NY.  Her career continued as a Learning Specialist for over 20 years before making the decision to move to NJ with her husband, Michael, to raise a family.   After participating in a music and movement class with their two young children, she decided to become a certified Music Together teacher and co-owned Music Together of Montclair until it was sold in 2010.

Kristen and Jennifer have been great friends since they were in grade school and Jennifer has volunteered for KRF since its beginning.  Jennifer looks forward to furthering the depth of her work with the foundation as a board member.

Jennifer and Michael live in Montclair with their two children.

John Egan

John Egan is a Managing Director at Bank of America where he has launched a global analytics group advising some of the world’s largest hedge funds, pension funds, endowments, venture capital firms, and US corporations. He earned his undergraduate finance degree from Boston College and attended the London School of Economics, which enticed him to work abroad in Frankfurt and London for part of his career. Prior to putting on a suit, John was a drummer in a Boston-based band whose local following opened the door to perform as the opening act for Crosby, Stills, & Nash, The Steve Miller Band, The Doobie Brothers, Chicago and the Derek Trucks band.

John has been supporting KRF since 2013 when his wife, Jennifer, became a Board member. John & Jennifer live in Rumson, NJ, raising two young daughters who are also active in KRF fundraising activities. Cancer research has become a growing priority to John as both his parents are survivors, and he unfortunately lost his sister after a 2+ year battle with Glioblastoma in February 2020 and her husband, Andy, to a 5+ year battle with Mesothelioma in May 2020.  Also important to John has been mentoring and sponsoring at-risk youth, which he enjoyed doing via the Student Sponsor Partners program.

Richard Gillette

Richard Gillette is Kortney’s Father and has been involved in The Kortney Rose Foundation since inception. In 2019, he retired after 30 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He is a MINI Cooper enthusiast, disc golfer and GeoCatcher.

He is a graduate of Nichol’s College where he studied marketing and went on to work in sales before entering the post office.

Kathryn Healy

Kathryn (Kate) Healy has been at TIAA for four years, serving as a Business Manager in the Risk Management department. Prior to that she spent 19 years at Morgan Stanley, with roles in Institutional Equities, Prime Brokerage and Wealth Management that primarily focused on project management, communications, and budgeting.

Kathryn grew up in Rhode Island and attended Villanova University, graduating with a major in Business Management and a minor in Spanish. She now lives in Fair Haven with her husband Daniel Healy, who is a Captain of the Jersey City Fire Department, and her two young daughters. Their family spends most of their time at the beach, traveling, and playing sports. Kathryn also volunteers her time as a PTA Class Parent and coaches her daughter’s soccer team.

Ai Ling Lee

Ai Ling graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. While there, she served as the VP Community Service Chair for the chapter of an international Asian interest sorority, alpha Kappa Delta Phi.

Over the past 20 years, Ai Ling held several HR leadership roles at companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Vonage. She led an employee resource group to promote growth and talent across a global pharmaceutical company, engaged with nonprofit organizations to fulfill philanthropic obligations that align with its evolving mission, and took charge of organizing fundraising efforts and volunteer opportunities at the workplace. Ai Ling’s most recent role was the President of the Vonage Foundation where she served for three terms.

Ai Ling lives in Marlboro with her husband and two children. In the summer months, they like to spend time by the Jersey shore and in the winter, they enjoy snowboarding down the mountains in Vermont and Pennsylvania.

Peter McQuaid – President

Peter McQuaid is a 1985 graduate of Susquehanna University with a BS in Marketing. He is the President of MCQ Sales, LLC- a manufacturer’s rep firm in the commercial, industrial and residential building materials industry. Peter resides in Fanwood NJ with his wife of 31 years, Laura (also an SU grad) and their 21 year old daughter Katie who is a rising Junior studying Neuroscience at Dickinson College in PA. Peter was on the Board of Directors for many years at the SPUD Foundation for Children’s Charities which was focused on raising money to support research into a cure for Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis. This non-profit was started and run by several of his Susquehanna University Theta Chi Fraternity brothers. Peter also served on the Church Council, Stewardship Committee and was property Chairperson at Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence for many years. When not working or chilling with the family, Peter is an avid golfer and loves hiking, biking and cooking.

Michael A. Rescinio, CPA – Treasurer

Michael A. Rescinio is a graduate of Monmouth University with a degree in Business Administration with a specialty in Accounting and holds CPA Certificates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California. After spending several years with an international Big 6 accounting firm in the Metropolitan area, where he specialized in tax, he became a founding partner of Rescinio, Schibell & Co. in 1989. Mr. Rescinio’s areas of specialty include not-for-profit and tax-exempt entities; the resort and leisure industries; computer systems and analysis; construction contractors; real estate development, business valuations, and litigation support services.

Mr. Rescinio is also very involved in professional and community service. Among his involvements are the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Director and past president of the Long Branch Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Long Branch Clean Communities Advisory council. He has also served the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program on Monmouth University and Safe Havens, Inc. and currently is a member of the West Long Branch First Aid Squad.

Mike and his wife Sue live in Oceanport with their two children.

Jocelyn R. Rineer – Vice President

Jocelyn Rineer is Vice President of Field Operations at Agency Network Exchange (ANE). Prior to joining ANE, she served for fourteen years as Commercial Lines Marketing Manager at the E&K Agency. Upon joining ANE in 2013 as Field Sales Manager, Jocelyn established the field operations infrastructure for ANE. In early 2017, she was named an officer of the company and promoted to her current position. Rineer is the primary contact for ANE’s multi-state agency network member agencies. She works with member agency principals and their staffs to develop organic growth strategies, maximize carrier relationships and expand individual agency capacity to grow. Jocelyn holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, Certified Leadership Professional (CLP) designation and Certified Insurance Industry Professional (CIIP) designation.

Recognized by her colleagues for her knowledge and professionalism, Jocelyn was recruited in 2016 to serve as a Director on the Board of Directors for the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey (PIANJ), where she serves as chair of the Women’s Business Forum and Membership Services/Program Committees. She is also past First Vice President, Programs for the Insurance Professionals of Monmouth County, Region I, International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP) and currently serves as their Recording & Communications Secretary.

Jocelyn is a long-time resident of Tinton Falls, New Jersey where she resides with her husband, Ronnie.

Sue Torchia

Sue is the owner/operator of a personal training and massage therapy business based in Oceanport since 2006.  Prior to that, she owned and operated Red Bank Fitness personal training studio from 1999-2005.

Sue studied at Ithaca College where she earned a B.S. in Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation and then returned to complete her M.S. in Exercise Science in 1992.

Sue loves running and basically any form of exercise that is fun and challenging!

She has run 10 marathons and has completed a handful of sprint triathlons and Rugged Maniac mud runs.

Sue and Karl live in Oceanport with their three daughters.

FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Kristen Gillette

Kristen Gillette is a graduate of Susquehanna University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. She is the Founder of The Kortney Rose Foundation (KRF) established after the loss of their 9-year-old daughter to a brain tumor in 2006. From 2010-May 2017, Kristen worked full time as an office coordinator at Monmouth University while also running the foundation. She left that position to devote full time to the foundation, which is her true passion.

Prior to starting the foundation Kristen worked in the insurance and finance industry, as well as an aide at a nursery school.

KRF SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COUNCIL

Peter C. Phillips, MD

An attending physician and neuro-oncology researcher, Peter C. Phillips, MD, received his MD from the University of Connecticut in 1978. After completing his residency at Boston Children’s Hospital, he went on to fellowships at the Neurological Institute of New York and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 1991 Dr. Phillips joined the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is now director of Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program as well as a professor of Pediatrics in University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine.

Dr. Phillips has published extensively on cancer and pediatric brain tumors, including on medulloblastoma, the most common form of malignant brain tumor in children. Recent studies that Dr. Phillips has contributed to or led include a 2013 Neurology paper on whether recurrent headaches are a risk factor for neurovascular conditions in children who have received treatment for brain tumors. And in 2012, he led a study published in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology on measurements of memory impairment due to radiation therapy. Dr. Phillips, who currently holds the Hubert J.P. and Anne Faulkner Schoemaker Chair of Neuro-Oncology, is also a member of the American Cancer Society’s Clinical Research and Cancer Control Study Section.

Cassie Kline, MD, MAS

Dr. Cassie Kline did her residency in pediatrics at CHOP followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where she also completed a Master’s in Clinical Research, and then stayed on as a faculty member. Her research focus is clinical research and clinical trial development for pediatric brain tumors.  She currently leads four clinical trials as study chair or co-chair and is involved in the development of several other clinical trials. She will continue this focus at CHOP, and within the Neuro-Oncology Section she will be the Director, Neuro-Oncology Clinical Research.
