About the Award
The Kortney Rose Foundation was set up in 2006 in memory of Kortney Rose Gillette who died of a brain tumor at the age of 9. Kortney’s parents and The Kortney Rose Foundation would like to remember Kortney’s giving spirit by donating a $1,000 scholarship to one student who will be graduating from Shore Regional High School with an interest in pursuing a career in the health care field. The student should be someone who is looking to pursue a major in college related to health care, has volunteered his/her time, has at least a B average, and has a natural giving spirit.

Second Annual Winner 2015
Abigail is a very caring person and is always ready to lend a hand in any way she can. She was one of Kortney’s best friends and went through a lot with us during Kortney’s illness. She has been very involved in our foundation in every facet since day one. Abby’s smiling face is always at Kortney’s Challenge event volunteering and dancing as part of the Dance Plus Exhibition Team. Last year she choreographed and danced her “senior solo” that revolved around her feelings about Kortney. She performed this beautiful and moving dance several times during dance competitions and poignantly at Kortney’s Challenge. She has been involved with all of the fundraisers that have taken place with the foundation since we began. Abbey is very passionate about helping our cause, therefore the 2014 Kortney Rose Gillette Spirit of Caring Award couldn’t have been bestowed upon anyone more deserving.
